About

The Connecticut Farm Energy Program was started in May 2009 as a partnership between the USDA Rural Development and the Eastern Connecticut Resource Conservation & Development Area, Inc. as a pilot program that provided Ag Producers and Ag Based Small Business in New London and Windham Counties with Grant Writing Assistance to apply for USDA Rural Development Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) Grants. CT Farm Energy program also serves as a resource on energy as it relates to agriculture in Connecticut.

In October 2010 the CT Farm Energy Program expanded it's service area to include all 86 towns that Eastern CT RC&D serves in Hartford, Middlesex, New London, Tolland, and Windham counties.

As of October 1, 2011 the Connecticut Farm Energy is growing again and will be a Statewide Program. CT Farm Energy can now provide technical assistance in the form of grant writing to those eligible AG producers and AG based small business located in all 169 towns in Connecticut in applying for USDA Rural Development REAP Grants.
